Ron Hughes, OTech Director
Biography
Ron Hughes was appointed Director of the Office of Technology Services (OTech) in April of 2012.
Prior to joining OTech, Ron was the President of the California Data Center Design Group (CDCDG), a data center engineering and consulting firm, from 2002 to 2012. While at CDCDG, Ron was responsible for the design of over 3 million square feet of data center space in the US, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. He was also the Director of Data Center Design at a large colocation data center operator, Telegis Networks, from 2000 to 2002.
While working for the state of California, Ron served in multiple positions at the Stephen P. Teale Data Center and State Controller’s Office. While with the Stephen P Teale Data Center from 1990 to 1999, Ron was responsible for Facilities and Technical Planning as well as being a CEA responsible for the design and construction of the Gold Camp data center. He worked at the California State Controller’s Office from 1980 to 1990 in multiple positions, including Budgets, Audits, Accounting and Facilities Planning as a staff services manager.
Ron was a business administration major at California State University in Sacramento, has a certificate in data center planning from Georgia Technical Institute and is a certified data center designer.
