Course Title DB2 PROGRAMMING (INTERMEDIATE)
Course dates / time    01/12/2009-01/15/2009
8:15am - 4:00pm
Tuition : $ 875.00
Presented by TRAIN-RIGHT Status: OPEN

DURATION: 4 days

AUDIENCE: This course is designed for programmers and other technical
experts that want to learn to write sophisticated programs that
access IBM's DB2 Universal Database (DB2 UDB) for z/OS.

PREREQUISITES: Successful completion of the course DB2 PROGRAMMING
(BEGINNING) or equivalent experience.

DESCRIPTION: This course presents the next level of sophistication in
coding Structured Query Language (SQL) for the intermediate-level SQL
programmer. The SQL set operations of UNION, INTERSECTION and
DIFFERENCE are taught along with a focus on multi-table inner joins
and outer joins. The SQL statements and the structure of the example
DB2/COBOL program assist the participant in solving more complex
business problems. Efficient coding techniques are presented that
ensures the optimum use of DB2 application and system resources.
Hands-on workshops are used to reinforce concepts.

OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student
should be able to:

· Define and code the intermediate-level SQL operations that can be
used in a DB2/COBOL program, such as UNION, INTERSECTION,
DIFFERENCE, simple and complex subselects, multi-table inner joins,
and all three types of outer joins.
· Determine the best method of coding for high concurrency in a DB2
  environment.
· List and define the SQL statements that are used in a DB2/COBOL
  program to control a unit-of-work.
· Create, load, backup, recover and manipulate a test DB2 table.
· Find and analyze a program's current access path to determine and
  improve application performance.
· Utilize DB2 tools, such as DB2 Interactive, to prepare, test, and
execute SQL statements and DB2/COBOL programs.
· Utilize DB2 catalog information to optimize application
  performance.
