Completion of the course GETTING STARTED COURSE LENGTH: 2 Day (s) WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This course is designed for those who use TSO/ISPF and needadditional capabilities when working with OS/390 data sets. PREREQUISITES: This course requires familiarity with TSO/ISPF. Completion of the course GETTING STARTED WITH TSO/ISPF or equivalent knowledge is required. COURSE DESCRIPTION:File-Aid by compuware Corporation can be regarded as "Super ISPF." In addition to all the stardard ISPF capabilities, File-AID provides many additional features for the administration and management of data sets. Students will use File-AID to browse and edit sequential, PDS and VSAM data sets. Record layouts are used to determine field positions and format data displays. Cross-references are used to process multiple layout type data sets. Selection criteria will be created, saved and applied to display portions of a data set. Various utilities of File-AID will be examined and compared to standard ISPF. Hands-on workshops are used to reinforce concepts. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to: · Configure File-AID parameters for session defaults and control. · Browse and Edit OS/390 datasets using File-AID panels. · Specify Record Layouts to display data in formatted mode. · Create and apply Cross References for multi-layout datasets. · Create and apply Selection Criteria to extract certain records from a data set. · Perform utility and administration functions to data sets. · Display PDS directory contents and map member statistics. · View data set and record layout information. · Reformat datasets from 2 record layouts. · Compare data sets for differences in records. · Generate XML from data sets for Web based data interchange.
