AUDIENCE: This course is designed for business and technical experts
who want to understand the basic concepts of systems analysis and how
this methodology is applied to solving business problems with infor-
mation technology solutions.
This class is recommended to novice and aspiring systems analysts as
preparation for attending the INFORMATION ARCHITECT CERTIFICATE
PROGRAM at the DTS Training Center.
PREREQUISITES: None.
DESCRIPTION: This course gives the student an understanding of the
role of the Systems Analyst, and how that person brings together the
building blocks (people, data, process, interface and communications)
of modern information technology (IT) systems. This class is ideal as
an introduction to further classes at DTS that focus on various
tools and techniques used in systems analysis and design processes.
OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student
should be able to:
· Define the role of the systems analyst as a modern business problem
solver.
· Describe information systems customers, partners and technicians
and their expectations of an IT system.
· Understand how to bring together the people and the technology to
achieve successful IT systems.
· Define and identify the building blocks of any IT system (people,
data, interface and communications).
· Define the activities undertaken during a project life cycle (fact-
finding, documentation and measurement, feasibility analysis,
project and process management).
· Apply the three main phases of analysis (survey, study, and
documentation).
