Course Duration: 1 day WHO SHOULD ATTEND:This course is designed for business experts, and technical experts that want to learn the basic concepts and facilities of IBM's DB2 UDB for z/OS database management system. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course presents the basic structure, concepts and facilities of the DB2 UDB for z/OS database managemnet system and introduces Structured Query Language (SQL). Other subjects covered include relational database concepts, security design, concurrency concepts, database components, available administration and development facilities, catalog tables, and unit-of-work processing with commit and rollback. Factors that affect the performance of DB2 applications and the use of z/OS system resources are explained and options for application performance monitoring and tuning are discussed. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to: · Define the terminology associated with DB2 database technology. · Describe DB2 database concepts, including concurrency, commit and rollback, unit-of-work, and catalog tables. · Define the basic concepts of relational databases including data structure, data manipulation and data integrity. · Identify the SQL SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE statements. · Describe DB2's security scheme, including primary and secondary AUTHID, bundled privileges, and the GRANT and REVOKE SQL statements. · Identify the correct DB2 catalog table for various types of database information.
